The Christmas period is starting to approach rapidly.  This time generally brings a number of challenges and pressures for business owners and managers and we would encourage you to spend some time this month planning your holiday security requirements, both at work and at home.

Conduct your own Business Security Check

• Confirm which of your 'keyholders' or senior staff will be contactable during the holiday period and ensure that the Emergency Contact List held by your monitoring company is updated
• Conduct a quick 'security review' of your premise ensuring that security measures such as fences, gates, security doors etc are in good condition and that exterior and security lights are working.  Also ensure that loose scrap or product is not left unsecured as this will attract offenders onto your site
• Test your alarm system and ensure that the PIR's (alarm sensors) are working and not blocked by shelving or furniture etc, and are clear from cobwebs
• Schedule extra security patrol checks with your security provider if your business will be closed for an extended period
• Make arrangements for valuable equipment such as laptops and projectors to be secured if possible or at least moved off desks etc if visible from outside the building

Residential Security

For private residences we recommend the use of the ICON Group Home Minder Service.  ICON Group Security Officers will conduct a daily and nightly check of your property, checking that all exterior doors and windows are secure and also clear your letterbox.  All mail, newspapers and circulars will be securely stored and delivered to your home upon your return.
